All launches in Florida begin their journey on the launch pads of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station or Kennedy Space Center. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex offers the closest public viewing of launches, as well as launch commentary, bleacher seating and access to exhibits and attractions.
Located in the Canaveral National Seashore, Playalinda Beach is one the closest locations to view rocket launches on the Space Coast. With a short walk down the beach, you can be within 5 miles of the launch. It is located within a National Park, so a $10 entrance fee is required.

Can you watch rocket launch from Playalinda Beach?
Playalinda Beach offers the closest view of the launches. It is recommended to be in the park a few hours early if possible. NASA restricts incoming traffic to security purposes prior to a launch. However if you are already in the park you may stay to view the launch.
Is Playalinda Beach clothing optional?
Playalinda Beach runs along the Atlantic Ocean for several miles north of the Kennedy Space Center. However, most of Playalinda Beach is used by more typical beachgoers; the clothing-optional bathers apparently stay in that far northern area.

How far away can you hear a space shuttle launch?
These infrasound waves can travel very long distances and could be detected by the IMS network even as far away as 9,000 kilometers (5,592 miles). The 1,001 rocket launches were logged as part of 7,637 infrasound signatures captured and analyzed between 2009 and 2020 at the IMS stations.
Cape Canaveral launch viewing at Sand Point Park is excellent for most launches. Sand Point Park is located on the shoreline and parking is free.
